BONNET - Thesis Collection
As seen by Gracey Jarecke at the Weltzheimer/Johnson House in Oberlin, OH. BONNET is my six look thesis collection exploring silhouette and different methods of layering. The Weltzheimer/Johnson House is a Frank Lloyd Wright designed Usonian House situated in Oberlin, OH, 35 miles outside of Cleveland. Designed in 1947 and completed in 1949, it is the first Usonian style house in Ohio. What distinguishes this home from other Usonian houses is it is the only non-Californian Usonian to utilize redwood in its construction. In 1968, the home was purchased by the distinguished art historian and professor, Ellen H. Johnson. With the help of her students and contractors, Johnson restored much of the home to its intended state. Today, the home is owned by Oberlin College where it is overseen by the Allen Memorial Art Museum.
